On April 30 the Mariinsky Theater Symphony orchestra under the direction of Valery Gergiev performed at Arnold Kats State concert hall in the frames of the XIII Moscow Easter Festival.

«I feel great that in Russia there is one more spacious concert hall. I sincerely want to congratulate Novosibirsk with this event. I'm sure the Hall will provide huge opportunities to Novosibirsk and to the whole region. It would allow, if you want, a cultural revolution. I have very good feelings from the hall. We played two contrasting works. Piece «The Forgotten offering» by Messiaen is for church acoustics and «Ein Heldenleben» by Strauss is for a huge concert hall like this. I specially let the orchestra to play brightly, to demonstrate the power. Musicians felt comfortable, despite the small number of rehearsals, "- said Gergiev.

Concert №1 by Rachmaninov sounded at the concert. 15-years-old pianist Daniil Kharitonov was a soloist. In March 2013 the musician succeeded at the famous Carnegie-hall in New-York. American critics highly appreciated appearance of the young musician.

The XIII Moscow Easter Festival takes place from April 20 till May with the support of the Government of Moscow, Ministry of culture of Russian Federation and Russian Orthodox Church, and also at the first time — with the support and participation of the Ministry of Defense of Russian Federation. Festival route of the Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra under Valery Gergiev crosses the country, covering Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Yakutsk, Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Tomsk, Novosibirsk, Tyumen, Perm, Lipetsk, Voronezh, Volgograd, Orenburg, Penza, Nizhny Novgorod.
