The 8th Trans-Siberian Art Festival in Novosibirsk is over

The VIIIth Trans-Siberian Art Festival was held in Novosibirsk from March 25 to April 26, 2021. Within the framework of the Festival, 20 events took place in Novosibirsk and in Novosibirsk region. Also, the concerts of the Festival were held in Krasnoyarsk and Moscow. In addition to the chamber, instrumental and symphonic genres the program of the 8th Forum also included a jazz concert. Russian and world premieres took place.

The first concerts of the festival were sold out: the Russian premiere of the concert for two violins “Shadow Walker” by Mark-Anthony Turnage, the world premiere of the play for the orchestra “Tobolsk Princess” by the Siberian composer Elena Demidova. Novosibirsk met with world celebrities - leading European conductors Andris Poga (Latvia) and Kazuki Yamada (Japan), Charles Dutoit (Switzerland). The jazz concert (first in the history of the Festival) was presented by Igor Butman together with his quintet and singer Fantine. Alexandra Konunova (violin), Pablo Ferrandez (cello, Spain), Denis Kozhukhin (piano), Filarmonica-quartet performed in symphonic and chamber programs. The program dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Astor Piazzolla was performed by the Piazzolla Studio ensemble. The triumphant closing of the forum in Novosibirsk was a concert on April 26, in which Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra and the Mariinsky Theater Symphony Orchestra met on the same stage under the direction of Valery Gergiev.

7742 spectators attended the Festival events in Novosibirsk, and 23100 spectators joined the online broadcasts of the festival programs on the website of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Society and on the “Russian Seasons” platform. The concerts were broadcasted by OTS and OTR TV channels. Also during the days of the Festival in Novosibirsk the program of master classes “Just talk to a star!” was held for the fifth time.
