"Unfortunately, Leonidas Kavakos has to cancel his participation in the concerts for the next three weeks for health reasons", said Vadim Repin, artistic director of the Trans-Siberian Art Festival. "His performances at that time were announced in Finland, Moscow and Novosibirsk. Of course, the organizers of these concerts are now in a problem situation. In this regard, I was approached by colleagues from the Moscow Philharmonic Society, they asked me to perform in the program where Leonidas participated. I agreed, having responded to the request of long-time partners and friends, and now on April 1st in the Great Hall of the Conservatory with the State Academic Symphony Orchestra named after Svetlanov under the direction of Vasily Sinaisky, together with the remarkable cellist Alexander Buzlov we will perform Brahms Double Concert, also in my performance the "Gypsy" by Ravel will sound. I thought that it would be interesting to perform this Concert at the Trans-Siberian Art Festival, Alexander readily responded to my proposal, for which I am very grateful. Thus, on April 3rd, Brahms' Double Concert will be performed in our performance at the closing of the festival with the Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Gintaras Rinkevicius. We will try to do everything so that our public will have an unforgettable impression of one of my most beloved works".
According to critics, the duet of Vadim Repin and Alexander Buzlov is an incredibly musical and sensual performance of Brahms' deepest music.
Alexander Buzlov is one of the brightest cellists of the younger generation. Laureate of numerous international competitions, including the International Tchaikovsky Competition, he graduated from Moscow Conservatoire, he worked with such outstanding cellists as Mstislav Rostropovich, Daniil Shafran, Natalya Shakhovskaya.
