Leonidas Kavakos, one of the best violinists in the world, has agreed to perform at the closing of Trans-Siberian Art Festival in Novosibirsk

On 25th of January it became known that Leonidas Kavakos - one of the most demanded violinists in the world, gave his agreement to perform at the concert-closing of Trans-Siberian Art Festival in Novosibirsk. Due to the high busyness of the musician’s schedule the closing of the festival is postponed from 2nd to 3rd of April. Vadim Repin – an outstanding violinist born in Novosibirsk, artistic director of the festival – will also participate in the program. Both musicians will play instruments of Antonio Stradivari.

On 25th of January it became known about the agreement of Leonidas Kavakos to perform at the closing of Trans-Siberian Art Festival. Greek violinist is now one of the most popular and demanded in the world, he has prestigious awards, has performed with leading orchestras, he has been conducting, cooperating with the major record labels. "I doubt whether the world can find at least five violinists, who are comparable with Kavakos <...>. I think he would be equal to Paganini "- writes the author of English magazine Gramophone which is recognized as one of the most influential in the field of classical music. The musician plays the violin of the year 1724, produced by the legendary master Antonio Stradivari.

In Russia Kavakos by far performed only in three cities: in St. Petersburg with the Orchestra conducted byValery Gergiev, in Moscow (conductor Vladimir Jurowski) and Kazan (conductor Alexander Sladkovsky). On 1st of April 2017 the violinist will give a concert in the Moscow Philharmonic with State Academic Symphony Orchestra named after Svetlanov conducted by Vassily Sinaisky, the cost of the concert tickets reaches the sum of 5000 rubles.

 «Negotiations with Leonidas were for a long time, we wanted to see him among the participants of the second Trans-Siberian Art Festival yet in 2015. And I am very happy that finally everything has coincided, - says Vadim Repin, the artistic director of the project, - a great happiness that this outstanding musician and my friend found the time to visit Siberia and perform in my hometown. Novosibirsk citizens got, without exaggeration, a unique opportunity to touch the art of one of the most significant contemporary artists».

On 3rd of April Leonidas Kavakos together with Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gintaras Rinkevicius, artistic director and chief conductor of the collective, will perform Brahms' Violin Concerto. The orchestra will also perform suite from the Tchaikovsky's ballet music "Sleeping Beauty".

Earlier in the closing program of the festival the performance of Vadim Repin was announced, and the musician intends to keep his participation in the concert. With the orchestra he will perform "Reflection" and "Waltz-Scherzo" by Tchaikovsky. Currently, Vadim Repin plays on the instrument by Stradivari. Thus the evening on 3rd of April Novosibirsk audience will hear two violins of the great master in one concert.

 «Judging by the picture of the tickets sold, concert-closing is the second most popular festival concert for the Novosibirsk audience; in the first place there is the performance of Vladimir Spivakov and the Orchestra "Moscow Virtuosi", where together with Maestro Spivakov Vadim Repin will be the soloist - said Beibit Mukhamedin, Director General of Novosibirsk State Philharmonic, - Certainly that all tickets purchased for the concert on 2nd of April are valid for the concert on 3rd of April. We will make every effort to alert listeners about the transferring of this program, and I hope that they will treat this fact with understanding, taking into account the outstanding performance level of Leonidas Kavakos and the incredible density of his schedule».

Fourth Vadim Repin’s Trans-Siberian Art Festival will be held in Novosibirsk for the fourth time from 15th of March to 3rd of April. In 2017 the festival will be dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Novosibirsk region. Some concerts are also devoted to the 80th anniversary of Novosibirsk State Philharmonic and the 60th anniversary of Novosibirsk State Conservatory.

The average price of tickets for the festival in 2017 is set almost twice lower than the prices of the previous festival.
