Legendary John McLauglin will perform at the International festival «SibJazzFest»

On June 4 at the concert of the jazz trio of Yaron Herman (France) Novosibirsk philharmonic society introduced the program of the international jazz festival «SibJazzFest», which will take place in November 2012. «The Festival will gather on Novosibirsk stage the leading world jazz performers of different genres – from classic to avant-garde, — the director of Novosibirsk philharmonics Alexander Nazimko said, — Headliners of the program are – one of the most remarkable persons of modern musical world John Mclaughlin and the famous violinist Jean-Luc Ponty who, by the way, collaborated with McLaughlin in the period of existence of the legendary «Mahavishnu Orchestra».

4 concerts in the frames of the festival will take place on the stage of the Palace of culture of Railway workers. The festival program will be traditionally terminated with jam-session at the restaurant of the «Azimuth Hotel Sibir».

John McLaughlin will play in Novosibirsk with the group The Fourth Dimension, Jean-Luc Ponty – with his own group. Also in the program of the festival: performances of Paul Carr quintet (USA), Carlo Actis Dato Quartet (Italy), Creative Collection (USA), The Rosenberg Trio (the Netherlands), Big Band under Anatoly Kroll direction. International team will present concert-tribute to Herbie Hanckok. Integral and important parts of Sib Jazz Fest program are joint performances of world jazz stars with Novosibirsk bands: Tricia Boutte (USA) will sing with the jazz-orchestra «Siberian dixieland», Ken Peplovsky (clarinet, USA) will play with Vladimir Tolkachev Big Band.

In 2009 the philharmonics recommenced tradition of international jazz festivals that was interrupted in Novosibirsk in 1990s. The festival «Jazz in Jeans» (2009) was first after long break, in 2010 the project took its name «SibJazzFest». In 2012 the festival will be carried out under same name. The bright stars as Dee Dee Bridgewater, Mike Stern, Nicole Henry, World Saxophone Quartet and other great artists took part in different editions of the festival.
