Exhibition of cult photographer Steve McCurry, author of the legendary image of Afghan Girl, will be held in Novosibirsk Philharmonic in the days of the festival Sib Jazz Fest

From 20th to 22nd of October at the International Festival Sib Jazz Fest in Arnold Kats State Concert Hall the exhibition of cult photographer Steve McCurry Overseas Tour will take place. The exhibition includes 25 pictures created in the framework of photo project of watch manufacture Vacheron Constantin. The project of the legendary photographer captured 12 unique and insufficiently explored places in the world.

“On 15th of October Overseas Tour exhibition was opened in GUM in Moscow and Novosibirsk will be the second (and last) city in Russia, where this project will be exhibited - says Aliona Bolkvadze, Novosibirsk Philharmonic Deputy General Director on International Relations. - The idea to bring this outstanding exhibition in our city belongs to our partners - Horlogerie Stores "Geneva". In total, the exhibition included 85 pictures, Novosibirsk will see 25 of them”.

For over 30 years, Steve McCurry is one of the iconic modern photographers of the world. Photo art lovers know him primarily as the author of the picture of the Afghan Girl. However, on account of the photographer there is not only the picture with the most recognizable cover of National Geographic, but also hundreds of other fascinating shots, more than a dozen of published books and countless amount of exhibitions around the world. In his works, he turns to the subject of military conflict, endangered cultures, ancient traditions and the modern world. His works are incredibly touching and human, that’s why the famous photograph of the Afghan Girl makes such a strong impression.

Steve McCurry has won many prestigious awards, including the Robert Capa Gold Medal Award and the National Association of photographers, his work took first place at the international competition photojournalists World Press Photo four times.

The pictures of the photo project Overseas Tour following landmarks are captured: Aqueduct of Padre Tembleke (Mexico), Central Station (New York), stepped well Chand Baori (India), Giant statue of Buddha in Leshan (China), Hot Spring Tsurunoyu (Japan), the Manufacture Vacheron Constantin (Geneva), Observatoire de Paris, View of the Red Square from the roof of a Moscow shopping center "GUM", Landscape park Crawick Multiverse (Sanquhar, Scotland), Chefchaouen (Morocco), Samarkand (Uzbekistan), Lalibela (Ethiopia).

The international festival Sib Jazz Fest will be held in Novosibirsk from 20 to 22 October. Its program has collected all the variety of genres of modern jazz. Among the stars of the Festival there are Tony Kofi Quartet (United Kingdom), Motion Trio (Poland), Amsterdam Klezmer Band (Netherlands), trio "Good Evening" (Russia), Stephan Belmondo Trio (France), Sylvia Howard (United States), the hip-Hopf jazz trio Sax Machine (France), Oleg Akkuratov (Russia). Together with the stars of the festival at the stage there are Philharmonic collectives: Vladimir Tolkachev Big Band and jazz orchestra "Siberian Dixieland". The motto of the festival Sib Jazz Fest is «There is jazz in each of us. Listen to your own!"

The project will be held for the sixth time and for the second time at the new Philharmonic hall – Arnold Kats State Concert Hall, both at the main stage and at jazz loft. First time in the history of the Festival in most concerts sound engineers from abroad will work at audio remote control, among them there will be Andreas Adelhofer, who is marked by the cooperation with such stars as Joe Cocker, ZZ Top and Backstreet Boys.

The organizer of the festival is Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society. Partners of the festival are VTB24, public company Moscow Exchange, jazz club "Truba". Motion Trio concert is supported by Polish Culture Centre in Moscow and Ltd "Bella Siberia" (cosmetics and hygiene products for the whole family). Steve McCarry’s exhibition Overseas Tour is supported by Horlogerie Stores “Geneva”.
