On April the 30th International Jazz Day is celebrated by fans of this musical direction around the world. Novosibirsk Philharmonic celebrated this day at once with two diverse events.

A press conference dedicated to the International Jazz Festival "SibJazzFest-2019" was held at ITAR TASS Novosibirsk. The speakers included Deputy Minister of Culture of the Novosibirsk Region Evgeny Sazonov, General Director of Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society Beibit Mukhamedin and artistic director and conductor of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Big Band, Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Tolkachev.

The special significance of the upcoming jazz project in the cultural life of Novosibirsk was voiced. Deputy Minister of Culture of the Novosibirsk Region Evgeny Sazonov noted “we cannot but be pleased with the geography and qualitative composition of the participants from the point of view of the international presence: musicians from Germany, Lithuania, Poland, the USA, the Czech Republic, as well as famous Russian jazz performers - Moscow State Jazz Orchestra conducted by Igor Butman, pianist Alexey Cheremizov (St. Petersburg) and many others. It is also very pleasant that one of the evenings will be dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Siberian jazz.”

The journalists present at the press conference were interested in information about the unique action “Tactile music”, which is held by Novosibirsk Philharmonic for children with hearing impairments. The General Director of Novosibirsk Philharmonic, Beibit Mukhamedin, said that a charity event for special children and their parents started at Novosibirsk Philharmonic in November last year. Contact with live sound, communication with musicians, familiarity with acoustic instruments of different groups allows us to hope for a change in auditory perception. As part of the "SibJazzFest-2019" will be held rehearsals, open to children with hearing impairments.

It should be noted that the upcoming festival for the first time in the history of jazz festivals in our city is formed with the direct participation of the artistic director, who was Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Tolkachev.

The concept of the upcoming festival is based on the idea of creating a significant cultural event that will expand the scope of the concert format and the inclusion in its orbit of a number of projects in related arts. As part of “SibJazzFest-2019”, an exhibition of photographs and master classes by famous jazz photographers, winners of international photo contests Oleg Panov (Ukraine) and Patrick Marek (Czech Republic) are scheduled.

One of the important areas of the Festival will be an educational program - those are master classes from leading jazz performers Ken Peplowski, clarinet, saxophone (USA), Leonid Chizhik piano (Germany), Vladimir Chekasin, saxophone (Lithuania).
