On 13th of April Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra completed its part in V International Trans-Siberian Art Festival with the concert in the 64th subscription of Mariinsky Theater.
The program included: an introduction to Richard Wagner's "The Master-Singers of Nuremberg ", a concerto for cello and orchestra in A minor by Robert Schumann and Symphony No. 2 in E minor by Sergei Rachmaninov.

The performance of the orchestra in St. Petersburg caused a storm of emotions among listeners. When the orchestra finished its performance, the audience rewarded the musicians with a squall of applause and shouting "Bravo!" Eyewitnesses note that even the fact that some listeners clapped between parts of the symphony, did not break the charm of music.

Schumann's cello concert together with the orchestra was performed by a remarkable musician Alexander Buzlov. This soloist has long admired the most demanding music critics and publication.

For example, the New York Times commented on the gift of a young Russian musician: "He is a cellist in a truly Russian tradition with the great gift of forcing the instrument to sing, bewitching the public with his sound."

During the intermission, after the performance of the concert in the audience it was heard: "He is a genius", "What a hypnotizing, divine sound!"

This was the second performance of the orchestra in the concert hall of the Mariinsky Theater. Also triumphantly, the musicians of the orchestra recall, the third Trans-Siberian Art Festival was finished in the spring of 2016.

Then the orchestra was conducted by Gintaras Rinkevicius, the chief conductor and artistic director of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra at the time. Now - maestro Thomas Sanderling, who leaded the team at the beginning of the season.

- I conducted in this hall the Russian premiere of Mechislav Weinberg's opera “The Idiot”. This is a great hall!" - said Thomas Sanderling. - And in general, St. Petersburg is one of the world's musical centers. With a great history, with great traditions. And every performance in this city is honorable, interesting and responsible. And I'm glad that we with Alexander Buzlov chose the cello concerto by Schumann. This brilliant work is not very often performed, and Buzlov played it magnificently.

The special atmosphere that reigned on these tours, was also noted by the director of Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra Nikolai Sizikov:

- This is the first performance on this stage of the orchestra and maestro Sanderling in the status of chief conductor and artistic director. And this circumstance, probably, left its imprint. There was a certain excitement. The audience was very good! The concert was attended by musicians who in different years cooperated with the collective, and all highly appreciated the work, the highest level of the orchestra. Many noted that the orchestra was rejuvenated.

The importance of such concerts, as noted by Nikolai Sizikov, cannot be overestimated.

- These are new emotions, impressions, and this is always a push, an incentive for new work. After all, when we go on tour to Moscow or St. Petersburg, everyone understands that we will be compared to the best capital orchestras! And I must say that we keep this level with dignity!

The management of Mariinsky Theater, emphasized Nikolai Sizikov, showed great interest in the further development of creative contacts with Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestra of Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society.
