On 20 May Novosibirsk Philharmonic Society will host the closing of the XI International Student Jazz Festival. On the stage of the Arnold Kats State Concert Hall the Philharmonic Big Band (artistic director - Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Tolkachev), the jazz orchestra of the NSTU (art director and conductor - Yury Miniyailo), and the ensemble of the BERKLEE College of Music (Boston, USA).

Festivals of student jazz are held in Novosibirsk since 2005. The forum was organized by the Culture Center of Novosibirsk State Technical University and the graduate of the University Igor Verba.

Since 2009, the forum has gained international status.

In 2018, one of the organizers of the festival, which will be held from May 18 to May 20, is Novosibirsk State Philharmonic Society. The participation of student bands from Kemerovo, Izhevsk is expected. Foreign guests of the festival will be students from the Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA).

Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA) is the preeminent institute of contemporary music and the performing arts.

Among the students and alumni of this educational institution hundreds have been recognized with Grammy, Tony, Oscar, and Emmy Awards.

The Berklee New Spirit Jazz Quintet is made up of four Berklee students and directed by Ron Savage.

The members of the band are Armir Lee, saxophone; Farayi Malek, vocals; Nikolay Mischenko, piano; Michael Morrissette, bass; and is led by Ilya Blazh, drums.
